International Service is yet another "avenue of service" within Rotary, and encompasses Rotary Club of Hout Bay's efforts to expand in every way possible its humanitarian reach to other parts of the world and to join in with the Rotary objective internationally of promoting world understanding and peace.

Rotary clubs from all other parts of the world regularly visit Rotary Club of Hout Bay in view of its tourist location and, consequently, contact with Rotarians at club level is of high standing across a wide spectrum of clubs in the USA, the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Rotary Hout Bay has had "matching grants" in the form of support from Rotary Foundation with funds donated by Rotary clubsfrom many parts of the world. The club is "twinned" with Rotary Club of Coolamon, New South Wales, Australia, from which it has received particular support.(see Operation Medical Hope page)
The maritime and naval nature of Hout Bay and nearby Cape Town and Simonstown harbour installations, coupled with the international academic standing of University of Cape Town, particularly its law, engineering, political and medical faculties, produce a varied and interesting profile of visitors, adding to the clubs strong international network.

International networking is important to Rotary.There is a a high degree of excellence in the international speaker programme and regular input from International Rotary exchange students, ambassadorial and business study group members and general visiting Rotarians from other countries is maintained.
