Alex Kilgour leaves us for France as Hout Bay's 2010 Rotary Exchange student, her host family in France in the immediate future being Xavier and Isabelle Cnockaert, who are in Beauvais north of Paris, which is part of Rotary district 1770. Thank you Isabelle and Xavier - we are all part of the great Rotary family. Alex leaves on January 18. 
Rotary Exhange is, of course, what it says it is. The club will be sharing the costs of an incoming Rotary Exchange student with a Johannesburg club, still be finalised with the New Year break. The host parents for the incoming student be staying initially with from Alex Kilgour's family, her mum Genee Kilgour, who has taken on the responsibility and seen here on the right with Rotary partner and mother in law who is,of course, our own Lyn Liebenberg, at the Christmas party.
Butch Liebenberg, Alex's grandpa, is international director of the Rotary Hout Bay this year, also on the Operation Medical Hope committee - a past president, and one of the most committeed Rotarians in the district. Mick Feuilerade, also a past president
of Rotary Club of Hout Bay, will be acting as the incoming student's counsellor from our side.

Alex Kilgour told all Rotarians at her official address to the club when commencing Christmas festivities that she was overwhlemingly proud to represent South Africa and, coming from a family deeply involved in Rotary, she understood the honour that had been given to her. Alex Kilgour was born in Johannesburg on 26th May 1991. She attended Kyalami Primary before attending St Johns in Pietermaritzberg as a boarder. In her last year at school (2009) Alex was made headgirl of her boarding house and throughout her school career she excelled in drama, which is her first love in school activities. Always concerned about those less fortunate than herself, Alex encouraged her three sisters as well as her many friends at school to collect their loose coins which she gives to Butch Liebenberg, her grandpa in Rotary Hout Bay, for Phumlani, who most will know is our currently sponsored less privileged on Bill Kilbride's KIDS organisation programme - one of the sponsored education programmes of the club of which we are particularly proud.
