Neville Morris is napping in Napa....read this
The city of Napa is nestled into Napa County, California, in one of the most celebrated wine regions in the USA and is located just north of San Fransico. The city of Napa was founded in 1847, and gold miners called it home during the winter months. Today, Napa is fuelled by tourism that is driven by the town’s luxury hotels, high-quality dining and hospitality. (Wow, Neville.) While the majority of winemaking occurs outside of the city of Napa, there are over 20 wine bars and tasting rooms within the city where you can sip the best the county has to offer.
Yes, our own Neville Morris and dear Joyce, who recently left South African shores for the USA, have continued their Rotary association in Calfornia where Joyce has roots, or should we say "shoots". Because their new home is indeed Napa, California - which sounds a bit like an SA Stellenbosch to the average website visitor. Napa County is north-east of San Francisco, about 50 odd miles into wine-making country and in Rotarian terms is part of District 5130.

North Napa Rotary Club has a great newsletter, which Neville sent us, showing that his new club, for his stay in the USA, is like any other good Rotary club with plenty of good projects and plenty of fellowship. The newsletter is called The Grapevine and bears the logo on the right. We liked the Rotary wheel but can see the label "Uitsig" on the bunches of grapes.
Neville says Rotary Hout Bay's website is a great way to keep in touch with our happenings here in South Africa and he sends regards to all. The Grapevine made interesting reading for us here in SA and quite clearly Neville is taking advantage of the famous Californian reds, which compete any day with our own, Australian and French. See below.
Here is Neville with Rtn Bruce Lederer who introduced Neville to North Napa Valley. Bruce lives in the same condominium complex.
The Grapevine also has pictures of projects which show the vast difference between the countries, for example a project where Rotarians gather together to clean up waste on local Californian highways.
or in some cases, gathering together just to do the things we do.......
Neville, thank you for conveying the good wishes of Rotary Hout Bay, and that of our president Joe Schwach, to all North Napa members and president Shanks when you were presenting our banner and we look forward to the North Napa banner when you return to our shores.
Our website address is www.rotaryhoutbay.org and we hope sincerely that Joyce is well and that you find good fellowship with all fellow American Rotarians. Update us regularly on Napa County happenings.
